As Big Bang Theory Spinoff Moves Forward At Max, CBS’ Head Honcho Gets Real About The Network Not Landing The Show (And I’m Surprised The Word ‘Thrilled’ Was Used)

The Big Bang Theory may have faced critiques about its long run, but it remains a staple in the sitcom world, and its future seems secure with more spinoffs on the horizon.

One of the most intriguing developments is the upcoming spinoff set to debut in 2025—but with a twist. Unlike previous Big Bang offshoots, this one will stream on Max instead of airing on traditional network TV.

After the success of Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, the Big Bang universe is expanding once again, this time with a dedicated streaming series that will bring back beloved characters like Kevin Sussman’s Stuart and Lauren Lapkus’ Denise. This marks a significant shift for the franchise, moving from network TV to a streaming-first format.

CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach addressed the transition during an interview with The Ankler. She explained that the decision to move the spinoff to streaming wasn’t hers to make, signaling that the shift to Max might be a larger strategic move by the network and streaming platform to attract Big Bang fans in the digital space.

With the Big Bang universe continuing to evolve, it seems like the franchise’s influence is here to stay—whether on traditional TV or streaming platforms.
