For the 2025 Academy Awards, Scarlett Johansson’s stylist, Kate Young, wanted to achieve a look that was “elegant, beautiful, and cool,” with a strong nod to vintage style.

After much consideration, they settled on a stunning vintage navy Thierry Mugler Couture gown from the Fall/Winter 1999/2000 collection, paired with the breathtaking De Beers Midnight Aura Necklace.

Young explained that the combination of the gown’s neckline and the necklace’s length and gravity was perfect. “The diamonds are glorious,” she said, praising the cut of the center stone and the matching earrings. For Young, jewelry plays a vital role in highlighting and drawing attention to the woman wearing it. “It’s about what you want to highlight and bring the eye towards,” she noted, emphasizing how the necklace tied the entire look together.

The Midnight Aura Necklace, with over 74 carats of diamonds, was the pièce de résistance of Johansson’s ensemble. “Scarlett loves jewelry, and the stones really drew her in,” Young shared. The necklace’s dazzling brilliance made a stunning statement, complementing the vintage gown perfectly.

Johansson herself was thrilled with the final look. “Kate and I were looking for the perfect combination of elegance and timeless beauty, and this De Beers set is perfect. It makes me feel like a princess wearing it, the diamonds are so dazzling!” she said.
