In a Weekend Update sketch, Mickey Day appeared as the fictional “Lord Gaga,” a send-up of regency-era landowners that you might find in Jane Austen novels. And while Lord Gaga dropped some funny Lady Gaga references, the best joke was when he mocked Colin Jost’s net worth, at least in comparison to Jost’s very famous wife, Scarlett Johansson. 

“Oh, can you imagine Colin, a man whose wife makes more money than he?” Day said in his Lord Gaga guise. “Can you imagine!? Oh, the shame he would feel!”

This was a dig at the fact that Jost, while doing very well, makes less than his wife, Johansson. “What a living nightmare!” Day went on. “Now, tell me what does your wife do?”

Just for the record, this joke is not for nothing. According to celebrity net worth, Jost’s current net worth is 10 million dollars. This sounds like a lot, but when compared with Johansson’s, Jost’s net worth doesn’t look like all that much at all.

As of this writing, Scarlett Johansson’s net worth is listed as 165 million dollars. So yes, in the words of Lord Gaga, her income “dwarfs” that of Jost’s.

Thanks to Lady Gaga’s SNL appearance, this entire joke segment became an elaborate set-up to punk Colin Jost. Still, he can take it.
