Kaley Cuoco Faces Backlash After Revealing She Re-Homed Her Dog Due to Fiancé’s Pet

Kaley Cuoco has sparked controversy after revealing she made the difficult decision to re-home her beloved pitbull, Shirley, due to ongoing conflicts with her fiancé Tom Pelphrey’s German Shepherd, Blue.

In an emotional Instagram video posted on November 25, The Big Bang Theory star, 38, shared the heartbreaking reason behind her choice, explaining that Shirley had been a part of her life since she was just six weeks old. However, tensions arose when Pelphrey moved in with his dog, leading to frequent and intense fights between the two pets.

“Most of you know I had [Shirley] for many, many, many years,” Cuoco said. “All of a sudden, you kind of stopped seeing her, and I started to get a lot of questions as to where she was, because it’s very unlike me to just stop posting about a dog that I’ve had since she was 6 weeks old.”

Cuoco, who shares a 19-month-old daughter, Matilda, with Pelphrey, explained that Shirley wasn’t just struggling with Blue—she also exhibited aggressive behavior toward other dogs. Faced with the difficult reality of keeping the two pets in the same home, Cuoco ultimately made the painful decision to find Shirley a new family where she could thrive.

Tragically, Cuoco also revealed that Shirley had recently passed away due to aggressive bone cancer, adding to the heartbreak surrounding the situation.

Despite her emotional explanation, the revelation ignited a wave of backlash from fans and animal lovers, with many criticizing her decision to give up a pet she had raised for years. Some supporters, however, defended her, acknowledging that sometimes re-homing an animal is the best choice for their well-being.

As the debate continues, Cuoco remains firm in her belief that she made the best decision for both Shirley and her growing family.
