The reasons behind Scarlett Johansson’s refusal to pose for pictures with her fans

Hollywood actor Scarlett Johansson has revealed the reason why she chooses against taking photos with fans in public.

Despite being one of the most well-known actors on the globe, Johansson attempts to live a private life away from the spotlight. However, due to being incredibly recognizable, this can be difficult to maintain. As a result, one measure she has in place is refusing to take photos with strangers when she’s not at work.

In a new interview with InStyle, Johansson explained that she is willing to take photos with fans if she’s on duty in a professional capacity, whether this be at a movie premiere or arriving for a broadcast interview on a chat show.

Johansson said of her stance: “It offends a lot of people. It doesn’t mean I’m not appreciative, of course, that people are fans or happy to see me. But I always say to people, ‘I’m not working.’ I don’t want to be identified as being in this time and place with you. I’m doing my own thing.”

She continued: “I like to be in my thoughts that have nothing to do with what other people think of me. I don’t like being self-conscious.”

The Jurassic World: Rebirth star’s mission to maintain her privacy also extends to her refusal to join social media despite pressure from movie production companies.

“Is there a way I could do this and stay true to who I am?  It didn’t feel like I could,” she said in the same interview about her decision to decline the request to join the social media platform by the promotional team for Jurassic World: Rebirth.

Johansson believes that having a presence on Instagram would damage her authenticity because she does not understand or care for that world. She explained, “The work that I put out there is all based on truth. That’s the key ingredient. So if I were a person who enjoyed social media, then I could get on the bandwagon. But I’m not. And I think the film will do fine.”
