Amazon Picks Up Kaley Cuoco’s New Thriller Series As Production Gets Started

Vanished, starring Kaley Cuoco, has landed at Amazon, with filming on the thriller show now underway.

Cuoco will be best known to many for her starring role as Penny in The Big Bang Theory, with the hit sitcom running for 12 seasons on CBS starting in 2007.

Since the series concluded, Cuoco has kept busy in the world of TV, voicing Harley Quinn in the animated series of the same name and making a splash with The Flight Attendant and Based on a True Story.

Per Deadline, Amazon has now picked up streaming rights for Vanished for the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with a Prime Video release planned for next year.

The show hails from creators David Hilton and Preston Thompson, with the latter also serving as writer.

The Deadline report also reveals some of the show’s supporting cast members, which include Karin Viard, Matthias Schweighöfer, Simon Abkarian, and Dar Zuzovsky.

Filming on Vanished is now underway in Paris and Marseille, France, with Barnaby Thompson directing.

The Flight Attendant had thriller elements but had comedy in both seasons, and the same can be said for Based on a True Story, Cuoco’s latest show.

From the Vanished logline, this new series will be a departure from the comedic undertones of these shows and will embrace a more traditional thriller tone, with Alice set to go on an intense journey as she learns more about her husband.

Cuoco previously appeared in several episodes of Prison Break as Sasha, but Vanished will seemingly mark the actor’s first time playing the lead in a pure thriller TV show.

With filming now underway in France, it may not be long before more looks at Vanished make their way online.

Cuoco or Claflin could share posts on social media regarding the show, helping to build anticipation as the 2026 release approaches.

What remains unknown at this point is how many episodes will be in Vanished season 1. Notably, the show has not been described as a limited series, meaning there is seemingly the potential for a season 2 and beyond if it’s a hit.
