Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown Discuss Real-Life Love & The Electric State

Introducing a new onscreen duo can be a challenge, especially if you take beloved actors from wildly different movie universes to create an unexpected pairing that no one has seen coming.

But for Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown, the experience has been a seamless crossover. Watching them on my screen during our video interview, after the UK premiere of their film The Electric State, it feels like they’ve known each other forever. “It was a real love fest,” says Pratt, an actor Marvel fans will immediately recognise as Quill Star-Lord from the Guardians Of The Galaxy films and Avengers Infinity Saga. Millie Bobby Brown, whom we know as Eleven from the massively popular Stranger Things, echoes the sentiment. Pratt has been jumping in and out of franchise films, ranging from Jurassic World to lending his voice for The Lego movies, and Millie, on the other hand, has gone from leading the detective drama Enola Holmes to experimenting with action in Damsel. Between them, they have the solid makings of a good duo. The two gush over each other in our short and sweet exclusive chat.

A New Team-Up

In The Electric State, Millie plays an orphaned teen in a retro-futuristic world. She joins a mysterious robot in a bid to find her missing younger brother. Somewhere in her journey across dystopian America, she meets a former soldier-turned-drifter, played by Chris Pratt. While they have nothing in common, the two soon become unlikely companions on an adventure. Calling the fresh collaboration a joyful ride, Pratt shares, “Oh, it was very joyful. Really a wonderful experience. It was long hours in the trenches. But man, it was worth it. I think the journey of making this film was a very enjoyable one. We had a lot of laughs.” He continues, “It was a real love fest. I have nothing but positive things to say about it. So, it was a fantastic experience.” Brown adds as she beams, “Yeah, it was a great experience!”

Wedded Bliss

Chris and Millie attended the movie’s premiere with their better halves. While Chris looked dapper in a suit next to his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, Millie dazzled in a gown arm-in-arm with husband Jake Bongiovi. When asked what it was like having their partners show up for them, Millie reveals that she was planning her dreamy wedding while shooting. “Oh my gosh, I can only speak from a year of marriage. Meanwhile, Chris and Katherine have had the most beautiful marriage. That is what kind of inspired Jake and me, just seeing the way that they connect. Their relationship is so beautiful. And the stories he’s told me about his relationship are beautiful. Jake and I love each other. I adore him.” Millie tied the knot with Jake in an intimate ceremony in May 2024. The actress goes on, “I was planning my wedding, or was I? Yeah, I was planning my wedding during the shoot.” Chris chimes in, “Yup, you just got engaged before we started.”

Millie adds another tidbit.

“We were rehearsing our Grease dance number. We performed You’re the One That I Want at our wedding. So we had a lot of fun going over the details of our wedding during production. But we’ve just had the best times. It’s been a year since we got married. We’re happy.” Chris, who married Katherine in June 2019, shares, “There’s not a part of my life that didn’t change for the better when I got married to Katherine. She’s been a wonderful support system. She’s got incredible wisdom and discernment. This walk through life together has been beautiful and fruitful. We’ve got three wonderful children together. She’s also an incredible stepmom to my son, Jack. And she’s just so solid, loving, and nurturing. I have so many deficits in my life that she fills. We just have a great partnership.”
